Mental Health First Aid is a valuable course to do if you are interested in this field. As a group that is focused on mental health and suicide prevention, we would encourage all members to obatin this training if possible.
The Mental Health First Aid course provides training in assisting people both as a normal matter of course and also in the event of a mental health crisis. The training provides you with skills to assist people and get them to professional help in the event of a potential suicide, a panic attack, severe mental health issue and psychotic episode.
One of our members is an experienced Mental Health First Aid trainer and offers training to members on a not for profit basis in Wedderburn. This means you pay for your manual, your share of the costs of the training venue and your share of the costs of catering. This considerably reduces the cost of the course to individuals.
At the end of the course, you will receive a certificate of completion and can also complete an online quiz that will provide you with accreditation. We also have patches available for jackets to show you are Mental Health First Aid trained.
If you want more information on what is covered in the course, visit the website of our trainer Ric Raftis. You can email him questions direct from his site if you have any regarding the course.
